Charlie Chaplin and The Fureys
A CD of Chaplin songs, called “Charlie Chaplin and The Fureys”, produced by Josephine Chaplin. Here’s the introductory text, which explains what is on the CD: “My father was one of the only filmmakers of the last century to compose his own music for his films, and he obviously also took great pleasure in writing humorous or romantic lyrics. In the cellar of his house in Switzerland there was a box of tapes he made while working on his compositions, from which we took the song “A Million Dollars”. Adding that to the more well-known songs from the films, I have been able to put together this first ever compilation of Chaplin singing his own songs.
However my father wrote many other songs that he did not record himself singing, and the CD would not have been complete without them. He loved Ireland and Irish music, and I have admired the Fureys for years, so they were my ideal choice to perform them. The Fureys’ unique talent contributes immensely to maintaining Chaplin’s musical spirit. Josephine Chaplin”
