I was seven years old and we were on the car driving to my grandparents' house on Christmas day when the news came on the radio that Chaplin had died. I did not really know much about him but I do remember how my dad was very sad. It intrigued me that my dad would be so sad about this man dying- and later on in life I developed a deep love for Chaplin. His humanity is so patent in all his works. There has never been anybody like him; and he is still the best comedian, and the best actor there ever was and ever will be. How he could take you through different emotions without the need for sound! I was given a pet bunny as a present recently, and I named it Chaplin- well, now it is Chaplina after I discovered that she is a girl-. Not many people appreciate Chaplin these days, why do we not get to see his films on TV? It would certainly make a change in the current offerings by commercial channels.. The man was a true genius.
