Mon Premier Festival is a film festival in Paris for young audiences. This year, the festival is paying tribute to Chaplin with screenings of several of his films, from early silent comedies to The Great Dictator.
The Chicago International Film Festival pays tribute to Geraldine Chaplin on October 15, 2016. Known for her acclaimed performances in films like DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, NASHVILLE, and WELCOME TO L.A. among others, the daughter of Charlie Chaplin and Oona O’Neill will appear onstage at the Essanay Studios - where her father shot His New Job in 1915.
Clips from Geraldine Chaplin’s decades-spanning career will accompany a discussion with film critic and historian David Robinson, author of “Chaplin: His Life and Art”. She will also receive the Festival’s Career Achievement Award.
At the MK2 Gambetta movie theatre in Paris, Edgar Sekloka (singer, poet, writer) will perform live with other musicians and special guests, accompanying early Chaplin comedy shorts.

Here’s a photo taken just after the screening of Modern Times on October 1, 2016 at the Théâtre la Piscine in Châtenay-Malabry, France. Timothy Brock, who restored several Chaplin film scores, brilliantly conducted the Orchestre national d’Île de France. It was fantastic to hear the audience’s uninhibited laughter throughout the film, followed by very generous applause at the end.

Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times will be accompanied by the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France, conducted by Timothy Brock, at the Théâtre Firmin-Gémier-La Piscine outside of Paris, as part of the Festival d’Île de France on October 1, 2016.
The Great Dictator will be screened this evening at 9:30 pm at the Cannes Film Festival’sCinéma de la Plage.
