This October, Foxtel and FOX Classics Australia present Charles Chaplin - Screen Legend, a month-long celebration to commemorate the centenary of Chaplin’s first appearance on film as the iconic Little Tramp character.
Over four Sunday afternoons, starting October 5, FOX Classics’ Mr Movies Bill Collins will introduce a selection of Chaplin’s films from the silent era through to the talkies.
“His films make you laugh a lot but they make you cry too. They are an experience in sight and sound with moments you will never forget,” Mr Collins said.

Also, on October 5 at 8.30pm, FOX Classics’ Sunday Night at the Movies feature will be director Richard Attenborough’s Chaplin, starring Robert Downey Jr in the title role.

On view October 2, 2014 through March 2, 2015 the exhibition brings together the world’s most iconic costumes from the Golden Age of cinema to the present, including Charlie Chaplin’s waistcoat, jacket, pants and shoes from The Kid (1921), and a hat and cane from 1919 Tramp costumes.
The Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences present the final showing of the groundbreaking multimedia exhibition Hollywood Costume in Los Angeles.
Hollywood costume explores the central role of costume design – from the glamorous to the very subtle – as an essential tool of cinematic storytelling and brings together the world’s most iconic costumes from the Golden Age of cinema to the present.
The Academy is enhancing the V&A’s exhibition and will include more than 150 costumes.
Hollywood Costume will be accompanied by a full slate of exhibition-related programs including screenings, discussions with costume designers, and educational programs.

A Comedian Sees The World: book release and screening event in partnership with University of Missouri Press and Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Tuesday, Oct. 21st at 5:30 pm at Ragtag Cinema, 10 Hitt Street, Columbia, MO 65201
Charlie Chaplin spent February 1931 through June 1932 touring Europe, during which time he wrote a travel memoir entitled A Comedian Sees the World. Until now, this memoir has never been published as a book in the US. Author Lisa Haven will attend the event, and ticket holders will have the first opportunity to purchase the book at a discounted rate of $25 that night only.
This unique event will also include two beloved short Chaplin films: The Rink (1916, 30 min.) and Easy Street (1917, 24 min.). For event details, visit the Ragtag Cinema website.
